 Making Music at Trinity Episcopal

The First through fifth grade students at Trinity are taught by Marybeth Davis.  They are learning to make music by being actively involved in singing melodic melodies using solfege...think of the song Doe, A Deer from the movie The Sound of Music = Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do!    They come to music twice a week.  Our students are also playing on a variety of different instruments.  Fourth and Fifth Graders are preparing for future middle school band experiences by learning to read music and play an instrument called the recorder.  The Third Graders are working with handbells.  First through Fifth Graders are learning to play and create music on the school's Orff instruments which include xylophones, metallophones and glockenspiels. All of our students have fun reading quarter notes, eighth notes, and half notes while playing on rhythm sticks, castanets, triangles, woodblocks and various other rhythm instruments.

Sarah Brown is the music teacher for our Pre-K 3 and 4 year old classes and our Kindergarten classes.  These students are experiencing imaginative interaction with a variety of music styles and enjoy lstening to music as well as singing and moving throughout their class time.  The Pre-K classes attend music once a week and the Kindergarten students have music twice a week.  All of these students also enjoy using many of our rhythm instruments during their music time.
